Leave it to the RVAGourmet to go crazy over a food-inspired fragrance. DKNY, the much lauded fashion house of Donna Karen has recently launched a new fragrance, DKNY Golden Delicious. The sweet find comes in a beautiful gold colored bottle with a rich scent accented by juicy golden apple, orange blossom and Mirabelle plum. The notes also include white rose and muguet flower while the base of sandalwood and teakwood balance out this new scent. Available locally at Sephora, the fragrance is available for US $42 for 1 oz. to US $75 for a 3.4 oz. bottle. The brand has also launched an extensive social media campaign which includes an app and a special campaign surrounding the world’s first million-dollar fragrance bottle designed by celebrity jeweller Martin Katz. The apple shaped bottle is adorned with rare jewels including 2,700 round brilliant white diamonds totalling 15.17 carats, 183 golden yellow sapphires weighing a combined 2.28 carats in a micro pave setting. A 2.43 carat flawless canary yellow diamond adorns the cap of the bottle alongside a DKNY Golden Delicious diamond oval logo and a Manhattan skyline embellishment in 14 carat white gold. The bottle has already traveled the globe from Malaysia with stops in Mexico, Brussels, The Netherlands, Germany, Britain, Taiwan, Israel, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland and Dubai. The final stop will be in Los Angeles in October where the bottle will be sold with the proceeds going to charity. Other jewels in the bottle design were sourced from several foreign countries including a 1.65 carat turquoise pariaba tourmaline from Brazil, a 7.18 carat oval cabochon sapphire from Sri Lanka, 15 pink diamonds from Australia in addition to a 3.07 carat oval cut ruby and a 4.03 carat pear-shaped rose cut diamond.
